KING KARTHIK GALVANISES GREAT TEAM PERFORMANCE

P&S won the toss and elected to bat and were soon in trouble when George and DFS were both in the hutch before the end of the third over. Bibek and Rory steadied the ship for the next 11 overs and added 40 competent runs, until Bibek pulled Willie out to deep extra cover and was caught for a promising 26.
The wickets began to tumble again when willie trapped Rory lbw for 11 and then Krishan and Bergy fell before the drinks break. At this stage the scoreboard made sombre reading at 65 for 6. Karthik and Romit then took up the task of getting us back into the match. They put on 47 crucial runs in 9 overs, before Karthik’s excellent innings of 37 was brought to an end when he was out lbw. It was a typically heroic innings from our talisman who never seems to fail us in our hour of need with either bat or ball.romit in the
Karthik’s momentum was brilliantly carried on by Tristan, who joined Romit in the 29th over. A stand of 20 was broken when Romit was stumped for a battling 20 runs in the 37th over. Tristan who had immediately attacked the bowlers upon his arrival to the crease and had put them under pressure showed a maturity beyond his years with a vital innings of 35, that came to an end in the penultimate over.
There were no more wickets to fall and we closed our innings on a hard thought and competitive 167-9 from 40 overs. Runs were always going to be difficult on a wicket that was slow and low and with a heavy outfield.
Connor and Romit opened our bowling and operated in the usual miserly fashion and after 12 overs Emsworth were 34-0. Romit should have picked up two wickets, but two catches went begging. Karthik and willow came on the bowl the next 16 overs unbroken. Inevitable it was Karthik who got the breakthrough, when he trapped Metha lbw for 38.
Karthik then removed the other opener Gray for 22, when Krishan took a regulation catch at mid-on. Willow finished his economical spell with a wicket from his final delivery to record 1-25 from 8 overs. Karthik struck again in his last over when he bowled Offord all ends up for a duck. Karthik finished off an all round brilliant display with 3-34 from 8 overs. Emsworth were finding it tough as they laboured on 93-4 from 28 overs.
The game advanced rapidly with the introduction of Rory from The Creek End. He destroyed their batting with the flight and guile from his off spin. Rory began by beating Fountaine’s defences and bowling him for 1. Murray followed two balls later, when Bibek took an athletic diving low catch at point.
Romit returned to bowl his last two overs from The Kendell End and ended any slim hopes that the opposition had of the winning, when Chapman, who was on 35, skewed a drive into the covers, where bibek kept his nerve to take a well judged catch. Romit then Bowled Willie for a duck with an excellent Yorker in his next over. Rory wrapped up the innings with a fine catch from Willow at cow corner and a sharp stumping from the impressive Tristan. Rory finished with the sensational figures of 4.2 overs 2 maidens 4 wickets for 5 runs.
It was a tremendous all round team performance that showed our character as well as our talent. We move onto our next challenge of Havant 3rd’s and it’s vital that we keep building up the momentum. Well done lads!. Up The Mighty Three’s!! Bring it on!!!
