Railway Triangle II v Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 11 May 2019 at 13.00
Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report P & S put Railway in on a green undulating track to test them against the new ball pairing of Conner and Romit, who immediately strangled them for runs with their accurate bowling. Smith was the first to depart when he drove hard and flashed an outswinger from Romit to first slip, where Mohit took a sharp catch at head height.
Nottage and Malley dug in to see off Connor and Romit’s opening spells. They became more expansive against Sam and Rajesh without ever getting above four runs an over. Mohit came on with his right arm leg spin and induced Malley to put one down Krishan’s throat at deep mid-off. Malley trudged off the ground for45.
Rajesh then returned and picked up two wickets, including that of Nottage for 57, who skewed a drive into the covers, where Bibek took an excellent diving catch over his left shoulder. Sam got Davies with the last ball of his allotted eight overs and the returning Romit removed Creamer and Watson with consecutive deliveries.
That was the last of the wickets to fall and Railway closed their innings on 163-7. Romit was the pick of the bowlers with 3-20 from a good all round effort from the P&S bowling unit, who were backed up superbly by the fielders, who took all the five catches that were offered to them.
Romit and DFS opened the P&S reply. Romit flicked the first delivery off his hip for four behind square. Unfortunately, Romit departed the next over when he checked his shot to a ball that held up and he spooned a catch to gulley. That brought Bibek to the crease, who began circumspectly with a steely determination to build a big innings.
Bibek began to show his intent with an imperious straight drive for a massive six back over the bowler’s head. DFS was providing solid support at the other end and he was extremely unfortunate to be adjudged out lbw for 22.
Krishan joined Bibek who had by now reached his half century with a full repertoire of fantastic shots. Krishan soon got into his stride and the runs were raining down in a torrent of runs. The pair displayed a plethora of exquisite shots, no more so than Krishan’s sumptuously timed straight drive that sung of his bat to the tune of a huge six.
The pair saw P&S comfortably home with 4.1 overs to spare. The winning runs were pulled by Bibek through the covers for yet another boundary in his majestic innings of 93 not out. P&S reached their target of 164 for the loss of just two wickets to start their campaign with a satisfactory 22 points.
