Match report On the windiest day of the summer top of the table Bashley won the toss and invited us to bat. Jack, back where he belongs, and Matt opened up and proceeded to produce a wonderful opening partnership of 181 in 32 overs with Jack making exactly 100 and Matt despite only having his eye op the day before making 77, their partnership included 15 4's and 5 6's as they showed what a class act they are against the league leaders. Unfortunately we then stumbled to 217-5 before Jake made a rapid 41 and with support from Alex and Qasir we rallied to 284-9. Jono bowled an excellent opening spell of 7 overs conceding only 14 runs and picking up a wicket. Bashley made solid if unspectacular progress and were aided by 18 wides in the first half of their innings. At 120-1 off 27 overs the game was in the balance until Ben got his off spin weaving and picked up the next 3 wickets finishing with a well deserved 3-36 off his 10. Jake came back and picked up 2 more wickets to maintain his position as leading wicket taker in the league, but with 2 overs to go we still needed 3 wickets to claim maximum points which is where being skipper has its advantages and Jack picked up a wicket first ball thanks to a smart catch from Alex, buoyed by his leg spinning success Jack turned to his leg spinning pal Tom for the last over and 4 balls later he had 2 wickets and maximum points were in the bag! With 3 games left there are still 7 teams that could in theory join Lymington, who we play next week, in being relegated so all to play for in the league as well as a possible T20 final at the Ageas.
