Match report Ray and Keith worked very hard to ensure that the match took place, but the reality of only 2 points gleaned from the game means we’d have been better off not playing. The handicap of five players being unavailable proved too big a problem although the man of the match for P & S was one of their replacements.
Choosing to bat first, Hythe were given an excellent start. The first wicket fell at 107 in the 27th over. Gates soon followed Young back to the pavilion, but Richards and Millar then added 89 in just 15 overs. A final total of 240 could have been much worse from the reduced quota of 48 overs.
The home side’s reply never got off the ground and after 18 overs, the scoreboard read 50 for 7. At that point, Muhammad joined Qasir. Aggression was the tactic and the last three wickets plundered 55 from eight overs, but the result was inevitable.
