Match report More of the same I’m afraid; another match in which a winning position was squandered. Fareham were asked to bat and made a poor start, 18 for two in 8 overs, Jake having removed both openers. Stoddart followed at 46 (14 overs) at which point Cornish joined Berryman. They added 70 in 21 overs to give the visitors hope of a decent total. Berryman was replaced by the big-hitting Davey who gave the local squirrels a fright with three big sixes and with Cornish, put on 47. White attempted to emulate Davey but was well caught by Chris from a skier at 168 for 7 (44th over). Cornish made sure of a fourth batting point, having provided the backbone to the innings.
Chris and Tom gave P & S an excellent start to their reply with a 50 partnership in 11 overs, but were both gone by the 16th. Matt then started to take on the bowlers, adding 43 with Jack and then 36 with Ollie. When Ollie was out, 82 were needed from 24 overs, but the innings quickly deteriorated when Matt was caught behind with the score 155 for 6. Jake and Ben looked solid while adding 25 for the seventh wicket, but White blasted out the tail, bowling full and briskly to give Fareham a vital and deserved win, but it could have been so different. Fareham move back into eighth place and safety.
