Match report Jack asked Trojans to bat first on a greenish looking pitch. They found it tough going. Agha’s 16 ball duck was ended by Jake’s yorker with 2 on the board in the fourth over. After 11 overs it was 11 for one. Boyd and Mahmood put on 67 in twenty overs, but the run rate didn’t reach 3 per over until the 46th over. This indicates how good the bowling was. Only four overs were expensive. Unfortunately, the eighth wicket fell on the last ball of the innings, so numbers 10 and 11 (who didn’t bowl) weren’t required. I guess they wouldn’t have lasted too long.
The visitors’ start wasn’t much better, Chris departing in the third over (5 for 1). Tom and Ollie added 59 in 17 overs before Tom was bowled by a huge break back. The total reached 79 for two in 27 overs but that proved to be the apex of P & S domination. Four wickets then fell for 22 and the smart money was on the home side. Ben and Dean took the score on to 145, but Ben’s dismissal was followed a run later by Dean’s. The last four wickets fell for 11 runs so only two decent partnerships were not enough.
Other results went particularly badly for us, so we drop back to where we were a fortnight ago, ninth. Chris was missed and will be absent from the Purbrook game.
