Match report The team enjoyed some useful match practice on a beautiful Spring day on a pitch which predictably lacked pace but did not help the bowlers unduly. Clem and Matt began carefully and scored 61 before they were parted in the 13th over. Ollie and Clem then added 58 in 14 overs. Jack joined Clem who was caught at slip with the score at 126. Tom was lbw at 140 (31 overs). Dean helped Jack add 64 in nine overs before they were both dismissed with the total on 204. With only five overs to go, Jake and Ben pressed the accelerator to great effect.
Jake followed this up by removing both openers with only 12 on the board. Smith and Barratt rebuilt the innings with a partnership of 67 in 17 overs. The relief felt at Smith’s dismissal quickly dissipated as Pagham’s Barbadian overseas player, Rico Webb, began an assault on the spinners, but after Ben had him lbw on the back foot, the game was up for Pagham. 116 for three became 127 for eight as the lower order collapsed. The last wicket fell to a good running catch by Tom with eight overs unused.
