Match report A cracking match that went to the last ball, was set up by a really good top order platform but was ultimately let down by our fielding.
Tristan continues to march on at the top of the batting charts booking another retirement in quick time. Middling most things (for singles) Umar clicked to retire with a 6. Davo ensured there was no mid-innings collapse and Freddie made the most of the 5 balls he faced taking 4 sixes and a single to trot back into the hatch. Lenny and Cam tried to keep up the momentum and selflessly perished doing so. As it turned out though Tristan return to crash one 4 before we closed at a competitive 154.
A good start with the ball drifted as we lost our line and length and our fielding was pretty patchy as net catches, boundary stops, snicks and pretty simple run outs all went begging. Even so we were never out of it thanks to a stumping and a couple of run outs. With 36 needed off the last two overs their number 6 took the first 2 balls (and his first 2 balls) for 10 which got them going. The last over started with them needing 15 to win and they got the best start with another 6. A dot, then a scampered 3, which should have yielded a run out, was followed by two more dots and a run out. So 6 off two balls needed. A four made them favourites and they duly got home with a deft late cut, with the added bonus of an overthrow as we tried to tie it up.
A what might have been evening for us. Two well match sides took it to the wire but fair play to our opponents who didn't let a good score phase them and on balance deserved their win for that.
