Match report The first one back appeared we might have over indulged over the Christmas break! Far too many extras and a slow start in the field meant Havant had an easy start to their 2019. A cracking catch from Tom off the junior Harrison's bowling woke us up and a back handed run out from Harrison Snr followed soon after. However, our earlier efforts left us a mountain of 156 to climb against a very good side.
Our chase started confidently with James and particularly Tom looking little troubled picking up 3s again and again. The introduction of Havant's young leggie immediately caused problems as we first lost James, then the skiing weary Harrison Etherington. Fin and Tom, then Elliott batted and ran very well but we could never quite get up with the escalating rate. By the time Fin was beaten by a good, quick ball and Elliott and Harrison couldn't get home running tight singles, even man of the match Tom couldn't get us within striking distance and we were well beaten.
It was interesting to note we scored more runs off the bat than our top of the table opponents. Food for thought.
