Match report Scheduling a match for the opening game of England's World Cup campaign was perhaps not ideal but nevertheless we took a side to Ridge Meadow with the main goal of securing enough points (2) to qualify for the League Playoff.
Bowling first we were rather put to the sword initially (thanks to a few extras too). However wickets did start to fall and were shared around. A couple of LBW's and a skied catch for Lenny to pouch were punctuated by a keeping master class from Tristan. 2 catches - one a "worldie" down the legside - and three stumpings was a great nights work from him. A note too for Sarvan who picked up a brace on debut bowling with good drift.
Chasing 156 was always going to be a challenge, although the way Davo set off it looked like it might be a formality. Unfortunately no one after him could muster the same fluency against a good bowling attack that was extremely well supported by an excellent fielding display (one hiccup excepted - as our next man in kept third man in conversation just long enough to see him nutmegged, to laugher from all but the unlucky bowler!). We were well beaten tonight but live to fight another day, the next "day" being the SE Playoff. Another performance like the last vs Grayshott please chaps.....
