Match report So we arrived at our final match of the season keen to put in a strong finish. Being put in on a damp track the Benfields gave us a solid 53 run start but we lost them both within a couple of runs. Ollie and Jack added a further 92 with Jack strolling to another 50 to take him well clear at the top on the divisions run charts, A flurry of wickets saw both set bats depart either side of Jake falling. With the track a little two paced it was a pleasure to watch Briggsy cast off the shackles and dispatch the ball to all parts, notably sweeping 5 6's in a 34 ball knock. Rob was a perfect foil rotating the strike as the scoreboard raced on. With overs running out the lower order fell away pushing hard for the line and we finished all out.
Following a tea of spectacular proportions it was little surprise Jake's first over went for 9 and gave no clue of what was to come. Thereafter, while Chris was parsimonious in the extreme going at less than 1 an over through his 7, Jake was busy nipping the ball both ways. By 17th over he had bagged all 5 wickets to have fallen and been on a hatrick. Balls 2,3 and 4 of his last over did however yield a hatrick meaning he had accounted for all 8 scalps. With two balls left and two wickets to take Jake did everything right and found the edge only to watch it fly between a diving keeper and slip for 4 to "ruin" his figures! The spell broken Jake had to content himself with the knowledge he'd topped Rob's 7 fa seasons best. The end came quickly as Jono then Ben beat the last men to give us an early finish and big win.
