Match report There were two moments in this match when P & S looked like they might win the game. The first was when Keiron dismissed wicket-keeper Featherstone with Fair Oak on 116 for 8 in the 33rd over. The last two wickets didn’t come easy, 48 more runs being added.
The second moment was when they reached 76 for two with 36 overs remaking and only 91 needed. Unfortunately, the remaining eight wickets fell for 40 runs in 17 overs. Admittedly, there were four lbw decisions (three to a left-arm round the wicket spinner) and a disputed catch behind down the leg side, but still a disappointing performance.
Fair Oak chose to bat first and compiled only two partnerships of note, 60 for the third wicket and 47 for the ninth, but the home side’s best pairing made 46 for the second wicket in only 8 overs. Jack looked in decent form and Matt struck four lovely cover drives. The unpalatable fact is that we have lost 20 wickets in 70 overs in the two completed matches so far. That means 30 overs have gone begging. This was one of the problems which persisted the last time we were in the Southern League.
