Match report Keiron won the toss and chose to field with the early season dampness in mind. The visitors decided that crease occupation was the key to victory and set out to ensure the full use of the 50 overs. The breakthrough came in the third over, with a gully catch and the score on 9. The ball began to swing after ten overs. Berzins and Cranch batted very carefully and were not parted until the thirtieth over by Sean’s boundary catch in Ben’s first over. Keiron came back on and five wickets fell for 21 with the two spinners in tandem.
The scoring rate had not topped three an over until the 36th over, but when Fisher arrived with seven overs left it soared. In partnership with Pearce and Burton, Fisher ensured that 67 were added from those 42 deliveries.
P & S got off to the worst possible start when Jack perished to the fifth ball of the innings. Shaun and Matt scored at a faster rate than the visitors achieved, but Shaun was dismissed in the eighth over with Matt following in the ninth. With two batsmen new to the middle, the scoring rate plummeted. Jake left in the 17th over (55 - 4) and Tom six overs later (76 - 5). Rob and Ollie brought up the hundred in the thirty- first over before falling victim to the young off-spinner. Jono blasted two sixes before Burton gained revenge and Ben was last out with ten overs unused.
