Match report A win - and we took it to the wire.
Winning the toss we chose to chase and our early bowling looked like it was a great shout. At 20-4 at 5 overs, with 2 wickets for Mo (and a catch for Art) and one a piece for Tristan N and Freddie, we were very well placed. That brought their skipper and keeper together and they rarely looked troubled in a 50 partnership which ended when Harrison got them to crack a ball to Tristan C. Harrison was disappointed to see a catch grassed and elated when Josh made amends with a fine one handed overhead grab the very next ball. When Joel got one past their top scorer we again looked well placed but a late flourish got them to 113 before TC rounded things out bowling their number 8. What was a little disappointing was our number of extras (30) and a couple of overthrows which could cost us next time. But still with a target of 114 we were certainly in the game.
In new slots as openers Stewart and Tris N got us going well with a partnership of 42 in 7 overs. However, Tris (to a spectacular 6 bound boundary catch), Tris C stumped first ball, Stewart caught then Josh sold a pup while running, we had lost 4 for 5. Freddie and Art rebuilt steadily but the need to press the accelerator cost first Arthur then Joel run outs. When Mo joined Freddie we still needed 24 off a 3 overs. A tight couple left us needing 14 off the last. a single and dot got everyone sweating but a no ball followed by a couple of sixes dispatched by Freddie got us home remarkably with a ball to spare. Freddie is to be commended on his eye and nerve to see us finish but perhaps we might have made a better fist of getting home sooner. Still, it's a small gripe on the back of a good win.
