Match report Despite staring with only 8 players (one taking a debut bow to cricket, let alone for the club - thank you Callum) it all started rather well.
Asked to bowl first Tristan N saw an away swinger edged behind to his name sake. Thereafter although all our bowlers kept a relative lid on things, despite our fielding one short, we only managed a deserved wicket for Stewart who tempted an uppish drive to Tristan N in the covers and a run out courtesy of Freddie's arm and t'other Tristan's quick gloves. Left with a target of 138 we felt it was achievable particularly in a 9 a-side game.
Sadly that was before we lost Freddie and Tristan C within 2 overs for a combined 3 runs. All the while Tristan N was at the crease we had options. Against the best they had to throw at us he looked the business. Two shots stood out, a pulled 6 into the neighbouring football ground and a cover drive off their champion spinner. He perished for 33, having become frustrated by some increasingly loose bowling. For a good while he was kept company by Harrison "the Wall" Robbins who repelled everything that was thrown at him, batting for an hour and facing nearly 10 overs on his own. In the end, despite Lenny cracking a further boundary we were bowled out a long way short.
We will certainly have better days with the bat!
