Match report The development side fell to just their second defeat of the season, coming up short in the run chase at Knowle Village.

Asked to bowl, P&S made the ideal start, Mo removing Boorman with a perfect inswinger for just 3. The bowling, whilst offering some extras, was also containing Knowle pretty well, and when the next two wickets fell cheaply to Josh and Joel, we were threatening to run riot. The Knowle skipper went for a golden duck, lbw trying a slog-sweep off Joel but, as last week, the middle order bailed the opposition out. Batchelor shared a 7th wicket stand of 90, the Oxfordshire ladies player making a well constructed 61 to take Knowle past 175, before a flurry of late wickets almost gave us another bowling point.

Joel stepped up to open the batting with Simon and looked far in advance of his 12 years. Despite batting nicely, runs were hard to come by for both and when Joel was out for 17 in the 17th over, we were behind the run rate at 41-1. Simon fell to the last ball before drinks trying to get the chase going, and bats came and went in quick succession as the need to push on increased the risks, with only Ollie looking steady as he made a tidy 22. Tristan and John were the only two who managed to get the ball away with any consistency toward the end of the innings, bringing us to a respectable effort but ultimately falling a little short.

Our last defeat brought a great response the following week, and we'll be looking to do likewise in what should be a winnable game v Bedhampton next time out.

MOM: Consistent for weeks but undoubtedly the star of the show this week, Man of the match is Joel Eastment, well done mate.
