We won the toss and elected to bat. Ben and Dinesh got us off to a steady start until Dinesh fell for 15 runs and after 10 overs we were 27-1. Qaiser, Ben and then the skipper all made starts and got out in the late teens and after 27 overs we were labouring on 80-4. That brought Karthik to the crease to join Bibek which proved to be a match winning partnership of 124 runs.

Bibek batted very maturely and was the perfect foil for Karthik to destroy the bowling attack. Karthik blazed his way to a whirlwind 79 which included nine 4’s and four massive 6’s before finally being caught on the boundary attempting another huge 6.

Bibek was run out in the final over agonisingly 1 run short of a well deserved 50, but not before hitting a massive 6 of his own and two crashing 4’s to bring up the 200 and ensure maximum batting points. We closed our innings on 204-7.

In reply, Denmead got off to a fine start and after 8 overs they were 48 without loss. The skipper changed the attack at both ends and Sam and Qaiser ripped through the batting. At drinks Denmead were reduced to 87-5. It was an irresistible spell of bowling from them both with Sam tempting the batsmen with his length and flight and Qaiser steaming in with his in-swinging Yorkers. At the end of their spells Denmead were 108-6 off 27 overs.

Pete Northeast then finished the job with his clever left arm cutters. He finished with 3-21 and Denmead were all out when Karthik bowled the last man out. Denmead were all out for 142 in the 39th over.

It was a gutsy win in which we had to dig deep in both our batting and our bowling. The match proved the depth of our team in all departments. Well done lads for a great win.
