Match report The visitors lost the toss and opened under grey skies which suggested that the quicker bowlers would prosper. Once again, Jake made the breakthrough, reducing Hook to 27 for 2 from 9 overs. Shortly afterwards, he pulled up with a hamstring problem. He carried on, but eventually had to retire and was replaced in the field by the coach for a while.
By the drinks interval, Hook were 48 for 4 (25 overs) and struggling against Jono and Shaun. Bowling changes were made at both ends and the visitors prospered. Light and Doran took their partnership to 60 from 18 overs before Light departed. Franklin then helped add 36 (141 for 6). Gee and Doran added a further 34 before the last 4 wickets fell for only 4 runs. Chris took three of them in 5 deliveries. Doran had some luck but his enterprise gave Hook something to bowl at.
Jack and Matt gave the home side an ideal start with 73 from the first 14 overs. Jack was very well caught in the deep trying to bring up his 50 with a big hit. Matt went two balls later so the Benfields were together at the crease with neither having faced a ball. The run rate dropped below 5 an over while they played themselves in. Matt began to play fluently while Tom provided solidity at the other end.
After 32 overs with the total on 139, the opening bowlers were brought back on and Parmar's first delivery, an inswinging Yorker, bowled Matt, ending a partnership of 73. Tom and Shaun (in his debut innings) polished off the remaining runs in six overs for a (maximum) 24 point victory.
