Match report A display that could best be described as "rusty" was enough to see us through vs a 5 man Portsmouth. Having lost both openers in the first couple of overs Nick and Dan looked comfortable playing great indoor cricket, soft hands and confident running. It was against the run of play when Dan holed out one shy of retiring. Nick did make it back in the hutch but a couple more run outs meant he found himself last man standing. Sadly he perished the same way with only 104 on the board. Against 5 men we might have hoped for more and perishing 8 balls from our full allocation could have been costly.
Fortunately, after a big first over we were able to keep a lid on things and Dan and Nick hit their straps. A couple of catches for Ollie, one for Tristan and a cracker from Dan saw us very well placed. Their top man was still there and looked comfortable until he was last man standing when he changed his game plan and looked for the back wall more. Freddie was unlucky to see a catch dropped off him but we finished things up next over as Nick grabbed an Ollie induced inside edge off the net to see us winners.
A good result which hopefully will have blown away most of our cobwebs as, with the exception of Dan and man of the match Nick, we'll need better performances.
