Match report With mass unavailability we ended up playing with 9 in order to fulfill the game versus our friends at Sarisbury, but those that played all got some game time and it was a good game played in good spirits.
Ollie won the toss, and we set about batting carefully enough to last our overs but hope to have enough runs on the board to make a game of it. Ollie was to help the top order along, and Harlan was to help the lower order along. On a wet and slow pitch the plan worked pretty well. although I think Mani had a different version of the plan as he ran himself out in the 1st over. Tristan and Ollie batted well together and got as past half way, before Ollie was caught 2 runs short of retiring. Unfortunately Tristan then fell too. This left Harlan and Sonny to take over. In trying to push on late on we lost a few more wickets. But we had posted a competitive 90 with 23 in the last 3 overs.
Sarisbury were quickly into it and with 31 off the first 4 overs it looked like it would all be over quickly. However a few tight overs from Charlie and Tom helped slow the rate. We had a chance to get their main man out in this time caught and bowled but didnt take it. Sonny made the breakthrough, their main man retired and we had some new batsman to bowl at. Mani bowled a very tight spell taking another wicket and we were making them work for their win. But they got home with over 2 overs to spare.
Well done to the 9 men for fighting hard and thanks to Sean and Tina for going out of their way to find and transport enough players to fulfill the fixture.
