Match report This game was nearly washed out by afternnon showers, but some sawdust on the pitch and then the desire to get a game on from both sides we went on to have a good game.
P and S batted first, it was wet and it wasn't easy going. We were 5 for 2 in no time with the loss of Ollie and Nick. Harlan and Dan T saw us carefully into the 40's but then they both fell too. We were looking at a low score, but as the pitch was drying it was getting easier, Freddie, Sonny and Mo all mixed running with boundaries and we had posted a decent 117. With contributions from 4 or 5 bats.
Hambledon's main man was finding the going eaiser and it took the introduction of Nick to bowl the other opener. Mani made the big breakthrough though with 2 wickets in his first over, but Hambledon were well placed with 61 for 3 off 10, and were ahead of the rate. But we then started to let them take control and with 5 overs left they only needed 20 to win with 6 wickets in hand. Nick went to the main bowlers and they were able to mix dot balls with wickets and started to bring us back into it, so much so that we managed to snatch a tie with a dot ball off the last ball of the innings.
Hambledon only raised a team of 9 but sporting as ever we gave them extra fielders (Ollie did a sterling job in the covers for them) and promised extra wickets if needed in order to encourage a game, luxuries that not all teams give to P and S at times. But this meant that the game was played and lots had the opportunity to play cricket.
