Match report Our stop start U15 season got going again with a home game versus Waterlooville which was amazingly our first home game of the season (in late June !). We applied ourselves much better this game but were well beaten by an excellent side that batted and bowled well, and fielded excellently.
Waterlooville mixed running and boundaries and were soon rattling along. It took Freddie to make the breakthrough and Dan C took a late wicket with the help of a good catch by Sonny, but we had been set 153 to win.
Sharp fielding keep our run rate low and something was going to give as the rate climbed, unfortunately Ollie fell to a very sharp low catch off a ball he really timed well. Dan and Harlan were ticking along but at halfway we needed 99 more. In quick succession Dan was caught trying to go over the off side and Harlan picked out the man on the short boundary. Nick quickly followed lbw and we were really up against it now. Freddie rallied well, but wickets kept tumbling to regular catches as we tried to force the rate up. But in the end we were well short of the target.
No disgrace in losing to a very fine side though, certainly the best team we have played so far and who gave us a fielding lesson.
