Match report A great start to the U11’s season today, not really cricket weather but both teams persevered and P&S won in the end by 11 runs. Some great performances all round with debuts for 3 of our boys.

Our opening batsmen gave us a good start, they ran well between the wickets and looked comfortable, Edward faced first which was a tough job especially on his debut, he scored a great 4 in the 2nd over. Elliott, our youngest player, was calling and running confidently and they came off with 19 on the score board (or 219 as they informed us!).

We gave away only 3 wickets in total, this is really positive for us going forward especially as there were no run outs at all, something that affected us throughout the whole of last season.

Some good run totals from Harrison, Umar and Tom Wheeler who scored 38 between them including 5 fours. A lovely round score of 300 at the end of our innings.
The team bowled and fielded well. Noah was confident in the field and stopped several balls from going for 4. Alfie made his ‘wicket keeper’ debut, he looks promising for the season ahead. A wicket for debutant Ged, Edward’s first maiden of the season and some very economical bowling from Tom Parker and Elliott. Declan held his nerve well bowling the penultimate over when the scores were pretty close, not an easy job.

Special mentions for this match have to go to our captain Harrison for 3 wickets (including 2 in his 1st over, then a maiden/wicket in his 3rd) plus Umar for an absolutely amazing catch in the last over, it was superb!

Well done boys, a positive start, things to work on next match will be backing up in the field plus getting the ball back to the bowler/wicket keeper accurately but overall a great performance.
