Match report Our first outing of the season was a baptism of fire with (I'm told) 1 county and 5 district players in the opposition! Early wickets for Freddie and Tristan were a bit of a false dawn as their county man gracefully popped the ball to all parts. Some very strong middle order hitting kept us under pressure and the new format of 9 men was taking some time to get used for field placements. While we all stuck to it well (particularly Harrison who stopped a number of stinging shots) it took some boundary prompting to see us became less static and begin backing up as we should. They closed on a sizable 177.
While a big ask, at the turn round with more gaps available, we felt it was do-able. Congratulations to Callum who while perishing early was brave enough to put up his hand to open with Arthur. However, despite cameo's all the way down no one was able to survive their bowling for long enough. Despite our ending well short highlights of our innings were: a pick up off his legs from Arthur that clattered into his dad, Lenny's crashing square cut and Nerash's cover drive - all for four.
Chin's up lads, we'll have better days.
