Match report 3rd Team Match Report – Saturday 7th May

P&S batted first on a slow pitch and there was a solid opening partnership of 47 from 13 overs between Ben and Simon. The skipper carried on the good work along with the attacking Sathish and the elegant Bibek who top score with 38no on debut.
Karthick made a quick and brutal 21 and Neil produced a couple of classy 4’s to help us get passed our objective of 200 runs. The innings closed on a very respectable 209/9.

We opened the bowling with Connor who struggled to negotiate a difficult ridge during his run up which affected his rhythm. From the other end, the ever reliable Karthick got us on our way with a brilliant diving two handed c&b low to his left.
Sam replaced Connor with his developing leg spin and was unlucky not to pick up a wicket. At this stage Purbrook were well in the game and looking very dangerous, until the introduction of Ramesh, on debut, and Sathish.
Ramesh bowled a tight spell full of hostility and menace and together with Sathish they ripped through the next 6 batsmen. Ramesh finishing with figures of 4 for 14.
Connor showed great courage to come back and he was rewarded by cleaning up the last two batsmen. Purbrook were all out for 143.
Well done lads for a great team effort in getting maximum points. We have laid down a marker for the rest of the season. Bring it on!
