Match report Losing the toss proved crucial as the pitch took more spin as the day unfolded. Veteran Day and Mitcheson posted 97 for the first wicket before the latter ran out of luck in the 26th over. No other partnership exceeded 19 as an indifferent fielding display enabled the home side to get close to 200.
The visitors' opening partnership also prospered; 47 were the board in only 6 overs thanks to ten boundaries. This proved to be a false dawn. Tom F and Clem were gone by nine overs with 62 on the board. The innings turned into a struggle but 95 for 4 from 20 overs was not disastrous. However, the introduction of the two young spinners sent the innings into rapid decline. With the ball turning appreciably, the last six wickets fell for 17 in 45 balls.
