Match report The beautiful weather prompted a good turn-out of spectators at St James's to watch what turned out to be a stroll in the sunshine for the home side. A much-weakened Ventnor side fielded only two players from last year's fixture and several of last year's third team.
Ventnor chose to bat. Stafford went for his shots from the start, but lost two partners in the first seven overs before he was brilliantly caught and bowled off a Matt B full toss. Perrin and Cotton doubled the visitors' total before Blackman and Perrin added a further 37. At this point, Keiron found his rhythm and skittled the last five for six runs in 25 balls.
Ben Attrill bowled an accurate opening spell for the visitors but the first three overs from the hospital end yielded 45 runs. Teenager Wells removed Clem at 59 and Smithy at 65 before Jack and Matt plundered 55 from five overs to finish the game.
