Match report Running up against a top side with out a number of our experienced players was always likely to prove a challenge.
Bowling first it was our extra count that really cost us. While their "big gun" retired twice the rest of the team although they played well didn't score at such a high octane rate. Great balls from Tristan and Umar got wickets and Tristan's dead eye throw gave us a run out. Arthur again was great beind the sticks and Charlie, Ben and Callum all beat the bat at various times. We do need a little more urgency in the field though but that can be learned.
With a mammoth 165 to chase we opted for a safety first plan and Trisan and Arthur batted well to give us a platform. After Tristan retired again, Arthur unfortunately finally holed out but Umar and Charlie played some decent shots that with more confident running would have yielded more runs. Late on Umar perished for the cause as did Callum in the last over.
Although well beaten we have to think that every outting for the young players is another learning experience the side will be all the better for, going forward.
