Match report A pretty difficult night for us, against a decent side we looked like we might have over indulged on mince pies and the like!
Putting them in we took a while to find our range as the extras quickly racked up and they tended to run well on the balls they could reach. Charlie's second over was our best of the evening and Oakley bowled well all through his 3 over spell to see 10 dots and only two scoring shots. When their opener retired their no.3 didn't face a dot as she coolly found gaps and ran until a sure fire boundary was on offer, it was an exhibition of how to play indoors. With all their top three retiring and our generous extras offered we needed a positive batting response.
As usual Freddie and Tristan looked good with tidy gapping and running although Freddie rode is luck with a tough spilled chance. Unfortunately his luck ran out as he smacked a half tracker straight back at the surprised bowler. A top edge from Charlie and a tight run out for Oakley set us back but Tristan kept fining the walls again retiring. Some good calling from Harrison and some good shots from both young guns, Umar and Harrison, didn't always get their due reward and both boys lost their wickets to tidy work behind the stumps. Tristan's return yielded a further 5 runs but it was never going to be enough and we ended up well short.
Tonight the better side won but something to take from the game is we must trust our running partner. A number of runs were missed when the striker looked like they rather fancied another go - rather than taking the runs available. Better luck next time folks.
