Match report Great win with a supposedly weakened side against a competetive Bursledon outfit who boasted a very handy bowling attack.
Winning the toss and batting we were soon in trouble with Ian, debutant Joe and the skipper (if you've got time I'll tell you how it swung in, cut away & cliped the top of off etc. etc.) all back in the hutch for a collective 2 runs.
Commeth the hour commeth the men. Dan's clean striking ensured our run rate remained good while Rob Evans proved what a combative and thoughtful batsman he's turning into as he defended solidly and hit the right balls for four while wearing a few from their aggressive quick. His departure for an excellent 55 brought man of the match Chris (give us a 6) Rippin to the crease for the last 8 overs and he along with the ever dependable SS made hay to take us to a respectable 187.
In their reply some tight bowling from DB and Big Mac saw saw both openers away before they had 30 on the board. Both bowlers hitting the seam regularly and looking likely.
Sensible but attacking batting, particularly from their no.s 3 & 5 kept them in the hunt. However relatively regular wickets from the firey "5-for" Rippin and new boy Ali Power meant we were always favourites. The final act was played out by the deserving Doug Bullen as we got across the line with 40 runs in hand and nearly 5 overs to spare.
