Match report Unfortunately we lost the toss and had to start fielding with 9 players. Opener Dan Wallis capitalised and raced towards his retirement with seven boundaries. We struggled to make the breakthrough until the No 2 was run out off a no ball thinking he was out caught, captain Ben sportingly offered him to come back in but he sportingly declined. The No3 was initially aggressive but then more careful and it was Mani who finally made the breakthrough with the help of a catch by Nick. Ollie S took a couple of wickets late on. We had slowed the runs down and limited Portsmouth to 149 after they were 101 off 11 overs.

A chase of 150 needed a solid start, but Portsmouths decent attack of Dan Wallis and Joe Thompson gained the upper hand with Thompson removing Joe, Ollie K and Dimash early on leaving us 17 for 3. Harlan and Ben led the recovery, until Ben was caught trying to push on leaving us 50 for 4. Harlan had found a few boundaries as did Jez and we were on 61 for 4 off 10, but the rate was climbing. Harlan needlessly chased a wide and was caught. Jacob and Jez pushed on and we had 100 off 16, but still needing 50 off the last 4 overs. To their credit they got us incredibly close and once Jez had retired, we were still in with an outside chance. Nick perished pushing on, but Jack joined Jacob and we needed 16 off the final over to win, we managed to score 12 and we were only 3 short.
A cracking game played in good spirits. Having to take the field with 9 probably cost us early runs, but the team put in a spirited chase especially after being 17 for 3.
