Match report Mass unavailalibilties before the game, and then two unfortunate late unavailabilities meant that we fielded a team of nine including three U13s for an away game at the league leaders tonight. Which was less than ideal.

Asked to field with a big boundary we were going to be up against it. However we had some chances. We missed the chance to run out their No 1 bat in the second over due to a fumble, dropped the No 2 bat, and dropped the No3 bat twice (once when he hadnt scored), all three went on to retire !

The seam of Nick and Joe couldn't find a way through, so captain Joe mixed it up with some spin from Freddie and Harlan, but we still hadn't taken any of the chances offered to us and the scoreboard was ticking over quickly. Once their 3 main bats retired we found a few wickets, Mani with two in successive overs, the run rate dried up a bit and Freddie clean bowled three batsman in the last over of the innings. Petersfield had set a formiddable 171 off their 20 overs.

We struggled to get going against their lively opening bowler and runs were in short supply, with only 10 off the first 5 overs. We started to get going a bit and had reached 42 by the 10 over mark. Nick was scoring better but then lofted a catch and was gone. Joe joined Ollie and they pushed on, until Ollie reached his retirement. This brought in Harlan to join Joe for the last few overs and they put on 30plus in the last 3 overs to give us respectability.

Dissappointingly this wasn't the top of the table clash that it was supposed to be. The strength in depth had run out, and so had the unbeaten league run.

Well done to the nine that battled hard for the cause.
