Match report The U15 season started off on a cold night at Bath Lane tonight.

We lost the toss but were put in anyway. Yesterdays rain meant that it wasnt going to be an easy wicket to bat on, and thats how it unfolded. A rare thing happened in that we lost captain Harry early on. However, Ollie was looking good, running well and playing some nice shots until he was bowled, but by then he had scored a valuable 21. At 25 for 2 Harlan joined John and mixing strong running with a few boundaries they put on 30 before John strangely fell without scoring many. At half way we were 61 for 3, but then Harlan and Joe with a mix of singles and boundaries pushed the scoring well and once Harlan had retired Dan C took over with Joe. Dan and Joe both accelerated well and by the time Joe retired we had a tidy total. The two Dans saw us up to 158 off our 20 overs which was a strong score on a tough evening.
The Fareham openers started carefully against some tidy seam from Dan T at one end and the effective spin of Dan C from the other. John B then had a rare bowl and picked up the wicket of one of the openers thanks to a decent catch by Joe. Henry then removed their hard hitting number 3 for only 2 runs thanks to a great catch in the deep by Dan C - a real stinger ! Fareham were always going to find it hard going from then on. Captain Harry bowled a miserly spell picking up a bowled wicket, and Kyle joined in with two wickets both due to catches by captain Harry. Fareham ended up on 82 for 5 off their 20 overs.

It was great to start the season off with a strong win. Our strength in depth saw us through when we might have wobbled, with runs and wickets coming from players that grasped their opportunities tonight. Well played.
