Match report Burridge invited us to bat, and after missing out with the bat Friday Captain Harry hit the ground running (running very fast in fact) tonight, with a crowd pleasing display of big hitting including a very big straight hit he retired with his scoring shots being 4,2,6,6,6,6,6 in the 4th over. Ollie was running well and anchoring the innings nicely from the other end, so when Harry retired the call was for the new batters to keep pushing hard. Dan C put his first ball to the boundary but then fell to a nick to the keeper. Joe needs little encouragement to hit the ball hard, and he was also off the mark with a 4 and then going on to score a rapid 15 before he was caught hitting down the ground. Harlan was also off the mark with a 4, and then added a few more boundaries before he mis hit a full toss and was caught for a valuable 24. Ollie was still making it look easy and soon retired. With about 7 overs to go the lower order had the chance of some valuable batting time, but Dan T and Henry couldnt grasp that opportunity and both fell without scoring, at this point we were in danger of not batting out our 20 overs. Freddie and Mani stiffened us up for a while, Freddie hit a stylish boundary before he was bowled. Mani fell caught behind off a very high full toss. Sonny chipped in some very valuable runs with some strong running before he was bowled in the last over leaving Tom not out.

A target of 143 to win was always going to be a tough ask, and whilst the Burridge openers survived some lively opening overs from Harlan and Dan T, they hadnt scored many runs. Dan C was introduced and he bowled one of the openers in his first over. The Burridge No1 and No3 then looked very good for a while and played some good shots before Freddie removed the No3 clean bowled. Harry quickly removed the No4 and then Henry came on to take 2 wickets in his first over. Harry was soon in the action again taking another wicket thanks to a stumping by Joe. Mani then came on to also take two wickets in his first over. Burridge totalled 89 for 8 in their 20 overs.

Another strong win, again with contributions from various team members once again showing our strength in depth. Fridays win was from some rebuilding work and then accelerating after losing early wickets, tonights was from being aggressive from the off, with the middle and later orders not being frightened to push hard for the benefit of the team. Well played.
