Match report A sparkling batting performance set up what in the end was a convincing win.
New opening partners Harry & Ollie came out of the blocks quickly running well with Harry finding the back wall 3 times before he retired. Ollie wasn't far behind, though just hitting the 1 six. Harlan was unluckily run out as a solid connection came off the roof to see him run out. Daniel C's morning of strength & conditioning work clearly paid off as he hit the back wall 3 times to retire in quick time. Daniel T got a cracker but Harry was soon back hitting another six before going one too many times. Having watched the fireworks Henry was not to be left behind as he too cracked a maximum. Ollie's return yielded more scampering and a four before he was caught on the back wall after the bowler couldn't hold the initial chance. Dan C was back for the last 3 balls and finished things off in style with a 4 and 6 to finish. With 154 on the board pressure was sure to play a part.
And so it did. While they batted soundly and ran exceptionally well they never got ahead of the rate and once we calmed our fielding down so the run outs came. Good ground work from all and safe catching from Harry kept things even. In the end overs 11 & 12 from Harlan and Harry respectively closed things out and despite an excellent 50 from their opener we ran out deserved winners.
