Match report Being asked to bat first openers Will and Freddie measured, but facing only 5 fielders got us off to a useful start. A fine strike for 6 saw Freddie 1st back in the hutch. Theo was unluckily bowled off his pads first up but Josh injected some good running as he and Will looked well in control. Will deservedly retired and Josh had a bit of a rush of blood to be bowled leaving the ever more dependable Arthur and debutant Tristan to advance us. It took a while for them to feel comfortable running but got the hang of it in the end and it was a surprise when Tristan went stumped (a really close call but on the line belongs to the bowler - you must have something behind it). Having cracked a good four Arthur was joined by the returning Freddie who too found the wall again before we finished on a commendable 120.
Our bowling couldn't have started better as Freddie produced a very rare thing - a wicket maiden. Will followed up and while he struggled for range early on did induce enough confusion for Theo to feed Arthur's gloves for a run out. Their no.3 batted well to retire while Josh, Tristan and Theo worked hard. However, Will's nack of getting wickets happily continued with a well landed last ball of his second over. A few more dots from Freddie kept us favourites before Will bowled another man. He might have had a 3rd if we had called for a skyed ball that fell between to unsure sets for hands. We didn't have to wait too long for the win though as Theo confirmed how much his bowling is improving by getting their top bat to find a tumbling Will for a good catch.
