Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Won by 30 runs

Match report Our second win. A tidier affair than the last outing although our running still needs some fine tuning as demonstrated by 3 run outs. A really close call on ball one was survived by the backing up Will but unfortunately both he and Alex weren't so lucky soon after. Josh and Freddie ran more comfortably until Josh got his feet stuck to be bowled. Arthur then began a very mature innings and he helped the soon to retire Freddie take the score on. Freddie, batting well, retired having stroked one excellent straight 4. Marcus rather picked the wrong ball to try to tuck around the corner and had to leave things back with Arthur and Freddie. Another running mix up finished Arthur for a well played 12 and Freddie soon followed looking for a back wall hit. Unfortunately we couldn't benefit from the two overs that might have been available.
Nevertheless 80+ is a reasonable score with such an inexperienced side. Our bowling effort couldn't have started better with Freddie's rocket arm running out their main man with a clattering run out first ball. All the boys bowled decent balls but mention should go to Freddie for that rare thing - an indoor maiden. When Will took the ball in the 3rd over we had no idea what was coming - three well directed overs latter he had the astonishing figures of 4 - 9. 3 men were bowled and the 4th a great C&B after Freddie had parried the ball up Will showed great presence of mind and ability to clutch the falling ball inches off the ground. This spell help create the pressure the enabled the quick Alex to effect a run out via Arthurs gloves. In the end we were comfortable winners by 30 runs. Learning all the time and improving for it. Well done all.
