Match report We managed a tight win with possibly our most inexperienced side ever (only Alex had played indoors before - and then only once). Losing the toss we were put in but started very well with Freddie looking the business stroking the ball for tidy threes and Theo too scampering and finding the gaps. Once Freddie retired Alex kept Theo on his toes with excellent calling. Sadly however indecision brought about his downfall as a good call turned into a mid pitch discussion then "sorry"! Josh too looked to have mastered the art of running until he too was disappointed just as Alex had been. Through all this Theo batted on and we were pleased to see him retire too. Before Freddie came back to finish the inning off with Arthur, Marcus was bowled trying to force matters. A couple of fours saw us close with an excellent score of 149, thanks considerably to the wides offered up by our opposition.
With the ball we started positively but their decent opening pair built well. As the innings progressed though our bowling got more ragged and Arthur become the star of the evening, keeping really well to save extra after extra. Once the openers had retired our fielding upped a gear and we collected 3 runouts and a Marriott double act with Marcus's safe hands helping Alex to a deserved wicket. The final over though saw them need 13 to win with both their main men back. Freddie bowled really well to see them needing 5 off the last ball. A hairy last ball saw them take 3 and try to get back for a further 2 for the win but Freddie kept his head to remove the bails at the bowlers end to see us home by the narrowest of margins. With more experience we could have closed the game out earlier but a great start to some indoor careers!
