Match report Playing the undefeated league leaders, who have beaten most sides very convincingly, we opted to bat. Ollie and Simon got us off to a positive start against some good bowling on an inconsistent pitch, which Simon witnessed when a ball popped up and caught him in the nose off his glove. Ollie was caught for 19 having played some good shots. Sadly, Sean got a good yorker early on from their first change, and best, bowler. We lost several wickets quickly and were 52 for 6 as scoring runs became challenging. Chis and Mark formed a positive partnership, with Chis the aggressor playing some good shots and deservedly reaching his 50 on a difficult batting pitch. We reached 123 which felt light against a team who have scored over 300 runs in a number of matches this season.
However, we gave it a real go with our bowlers performing well against a side which wanted to play their shots. Harlan took a wicket in his first over and we worked hard in the field. Dan Turner bowled with pace, line and length in his best bowling spell for the 3rds this season. Dimash, Harry, Ollie, and Chis all bowled good balls with Harry and Dimash the other wicket takers. We managed to take 7 wickets and they were starting to wobble. With another 20 to 30 runs on the board the result could have been different. A top effort guys - well done.
