Match report Losing the toss we were put in on a track effected by the rain. Their opening bowlers used it well to see the ball jagging everywhere. At one end their man hit a great length which bought it's rewards (5-18), while at the other their 6 foot + man got the ball leaping. Our most productive partnership (31) came from the resolute skipper (who played by far the best knock of the day)and Ollie K who despite watching a few balls fly over his head managed to crack the only six of the day. When Ollie went, no one else could stay with Mark. The capricious pitch called for watchfulness but one by one the popping pitch saw us hole out hitting or missing straight ones. A couple of lusty hits from Connor helped Mark take us to a disappointing but almost competitive 88.
In reply we had them 4 - 2 and 50 odd for 5. Harlan was his dangerous and tight self but extras were beginning to hurt us. J Dog almost turned things in our favour with an excellent spell of 4 - 17. In the field there were a couple of ground fielding lapses but we clung on to every catch (a couple were real good 'uns) and generally we stayed in the game when we could have faded. In the end their no.5 camped on the back foot and hit well to leg to see them home after a few nervy moments. A really good fielding and bowling effort that needed more responsible batting - just 10 - 15 more runs could have made the difference. Well done for sticking at it and congrats to Harry D-M who fielded well in his first adult action.
