Match report Another good all round performance saw us to a comfortable win. Being put in we got off to a steady start with Simon and Jacko looking comfortable for a 30 run partnership. When Ben was bowled he was soon followed by Sean picking the wrong ball to pull with the variable bounce seeing for him. Ollie played with more composure than the old man and it was a surprise and disappointment when he clipped a half tracker to point. Simon got a skiddy one to fall LBW which left Mark and Dimash to rebuild a bit. Mark ticked off the singles and generally put the bad ball to the boundary while Dimash took up where he left off last week to play with some cracking hits and top score for us again. When Mark was controversially given out caught behind Bergy and then Jim helped Dimash up the run rate and see us to 169.
On a pitch that was tricky with huge variations in bounce we were confident we could defend it. We started strongly with Harlan inducing a forward prod that was collected by the tumbling Ollie K at cover. Connor accounted for the no.3 finding the edge and watched Bergy swallow it at slip. The other opener started to open his shoulders but got a bit adventurous and smashed Harlan to midwicket. Then in rolled Bergy who regularly hit the bowl on a length taking two wickets in his first over thanks to good catches from Ollie K and J Dog. They rode their luck a bit in the middle and although Bergy managed to hit their no6 in the ear (yes ear!) we stopped taking wickets. Drinks saw Ollie S introduced and he took a wicket with his first legit ball thanks to his dads gloves (having disturbed the bails with a no ball before). He could thank Simon again in his next over having beaten the bat and watched as dad make the simple stumping. Some dropped catches and a misjudgement stopped Bergy collecting a 5 fa and Ollie a 4th but regardless we closed things out with 15 overs to spare as Jacko snatched a good catch in the expectant gully off Ollie.
