Match report For the second week running, we achieved the double over higher- placed opponents (they all are !) leaving just relegated Trojans to play next week. By my reckoning, St Cross II need 4 points at Bashley to guarantee staying in the league.
Matt won the toss and invited Alton to bat and they made a decent start with 81 for 2 from 17 overs, but Jono and Keiron, bowling in tandem, reduced them to 96 for 6 (27 overs) and although 30 were added for the next wicket, they never really recovered. Matt B polished off the tail.
Matt Smith's early departure brought a flurry of boundaries from Tom F and for a while the innings continued at a helter-skelter pace and style until Alex went in at 85 for 5 (14 overs) to bring some calm to the proceedings. He and Matt B added 52 in 12 overs. Matt was the fourth man caught off a full toss, with 6 needed to win.
