Match report Only five Southern League games were completed today; only one was in Division 3. Trojans chose to bat first despite the promise of rain. Chris and Jono made life difficult for them early on aided by Mike's brilliant running catch. After 18 overs they were 44 for 3. Then followed their one substantial partnership of 73 in 17 overs between Babidge and Truscott who was well caught by Jono to end the alliance. Ollie returned at 133 for 4 (40 overs) and shot out Babidge and the tail, taking 4 for 12 with his last 12 deliveries. A spectacular boundary catch by Matt B provided the second of them.
Jack and Mike found the going equally difficult against Donaldson, but it was the unpredictable Oakden and Wright who reduced the home side to 99 for 6 (31 overs). Enter Rob to join Tom who had already pressed the accelerator. The scoring rate had remained below 3 for the first 27 overs, but Tom managed to score at almost a run a ball without playing risky shots. The rain came at 129 for 6 (36 overs) and reduced the over quota to 48, but the target was only 29 from 12 overs. In the end, there were still 26 balls left when Rob hit the winning boundary. 22 points were the prize for guts and determination. Trojans were left still looking for their first win of the season at the halfway point.
