Match report The decision to insert St Cross looked questionable when Whitman was dropped 3 times during an opening partnership of 71 in 21 overs, but once the captain had gone, nobody could accelerate until Aldridge and Perry-Lewis made 23 from the last 3 overs and 187 looked achieveable on a hard surface after the bowlers had done a good job.
Jack began carefully and only had 17 when the 2nd wicket fell at 62 (14 overs) but when the spinners came on, he accelerated seamlessly and was particularly harsh on Whitman. By the time Jack was dismissed controvertially, Matt was set and in an act of brotherly love, let Tom finish the match with a straight six, with nearly 14 overs unused. Hopefully, a lot was learned about pacing an innings.
