Match report After an inactive month it was good to get playing again although it took a bit of a while to get into our stride. We started uncertainly with rather staccato running, which cost Dan C his wicket for the first time this season but Harlan & Ollie settled things. Ollie retired in convincingly quick time with two solid back walls hits. More good strikes saw Harlan soon follow. For a period our excitable running returned, leaving the unlucky Will out without facing a ball while Dan T and Henry initially rode their luck. One set of three runs came when the ball was left to the keeper! However, both played good shots and increasingly settled their running to retire, Henry for the first time, after cracking a six. That bought Ollie & Harlan back and we progressed quickly at virtually 3 per ball until Ollie had a rush of blood and gave his wicket away. Henry returned and played his part well to help Harlan see us home. Our innings finished with an emphatic six off the last ball and left Harlan one run away from what would have been an excellent maiden 50.
With the ball we couldn't have started much better as Dan T tempted their big gun to hit a length ball to see it settle in Henry's safe hands - well judged off the net. A tight set from Dan C kept the scoring in check with Will too producing decent balls. Alert as ever in close, Will won us a run out after their opener had retired. Two tidy stumpings, the first off Harlan and the second off Henry, meant we had a chance to get full bowling points but 3 catches weren't accepted which meant we ended up only getting 4 wickets - but pleasingly we were 60 odd runs to the good. Well played.
