Match report Nearly caught a cold but late order resistance and an excellent bowling performance saw us through in the end to keep our unbeaten record.
Excellent pace and swing bowling from the Locks Heath opening bowlers created a few chances that were spurned but in the 3rd over new opener Harry L was done through the gate. JB started like a train pulling his first two balls for 4 from their quick man but played a tad early on one from the other end. Henry smashed his 1st ball for 4 too but was bowled soon after. By the time Harry DM & Harlan had come and gone quickly we were staring down the barrel. Having clipped 5 fours Harry G was served a slower ball yorker to fall LBW. Daniel T was soon run out and Ollie joined Daniel C with us 55 - 7. Crease occupation was the name of the game and the pair played a good hand taking boundaries when on offer and otherwise running sensibly. Their 50 partnership saw us all but home but Dan fell with a couple of balls to go trying to go big. We closed on a respectable 108.
The win relied on our getting their big guns early and that we did. Harlan continued his remarkable streak of taking a wicket 1st ball (this time his first legitimate ball). His 4 excellent overs really set the tone for the teams performance. At the other end HL was bowling up a storm beating the bat ball after ball. The next over saw the first of 3 stumpings for Ollie, this one standing back. Dan T was next in the wickets (with Ollie standing up this time). This brought their skipper to the crease and he hammered the innings of the evening to retire. Once he was back watching, DC stepped up and with an LBW and the help of JB and OK he strengthened his lead in the season's wickets column. Skipper Harry, who marshalled his troops really well, picked up a wicket with his darts and Harry L finally picked up a wicket doing their no. 9 for pace. A good win from an unpromising situation. Well done to all the boys but a particular mention for Amir who took his A team bow.
