Match report That's us done folks - second place guaranteed and still in with a shout of the league (come on Hambledon!).
Losing the toss we were asked to bat which would have been our choice. Harry W got a good one early but Harry G retired in quick time mixing running and hitting out. Daniel and Ollie batted well running with relative comfort and hitting bad balls to the wall. They kept concentrating well too when extra's kept coming. Will played straight and with neat deflections had Russell's good running help him make 3's to see us close on 149.
In the field, despite tidy spells, particularly from Harry W and Dan C, we were frustrated not taking the wickets we might have. That said other than a couple of close shave bowled's and a couple of stumping appeals that might have been upheld on another day, the only real chance that went down was a snick from Dan's bowling with Ollie standing up. The two wickets we did get came thanks to tight bowling and Dan's cool head to bring simple run outs. The second one off the last ball of the match - who knows how vital the point it brought will be?
As we sit tonight we are top on 190 points with Fareham following with a game in hand on 176. Hambledon, who can't catch our total even with maximum points in their final game, would help us win the league if they beat Fareham on the 10th March. A nail biting finish we can't influence so fingers crossed.....
