Match report A much sterner test this time out saw our opposition in with a shout at the start of the last over but we made it over the line by 7 runs.
Winning the toss & batting again, the Harry's made serene progress against tidy bowling - simply getting in line, playing with soft hands, finding gaps and running positively. Both retired and weren't seen again. Daniel continued in a similar vain until he took himself to retirement with a six. Will too got the soft hands game and with the help of Dan managed a six with a double run before he & Russell saw us home to a score of 119. While a decent score we might have got a few more had we keep our running more urgent through the middle section of the innings - but I'm being picky!
With the ball, Harry W started really strongly and might have picked up a couple of wickets in his first over but the net drops aided the swashbuckling batsman. Harry G's opening over was grand, conceeding one run before running one through the batters defences. Surviving a tight stumping shout off HG their hard hitting opener started to target the back wall successfully. However, a good bit of ground work by HW brought a run out and a return catch gave HG his second scalp. The second run out of the night had Dan and Ollie combine and brought their big gun back. At this point our fielding became a little ragged and the bowlers tightened up which got them back into things a bit. At the end of the 10th they were favourites in my book with 26 needed. Up stepped Will who despite a 1st ball wide closed out his second over with only a further run conceeded. This left their main man on strike and 21 required. A couple of balls in, Dan bravely flighted one which got the batsman stranded as Ollie whipped off the bails. A couple of singles and then (just to make it exciting!) a couple of wides came and went. Off the last ball Dan flighted another one and induced a false shot that fell into Will's safe hands completing a good night for bowler, catcher and all their team mates.
