Match report First match of the 2012 season and what a disappointing start. Under the captaincy of Charlie Corbett, P&S elected to bat first, however this decision was undone with the top order batsmen failing to protect their wicket and wickets tumbled with demoralising alactrity. Only Charlie Peach showed any form of resistance to the Fareham bowling attack, batting for over an hour for a very creditable 20 runs, he was well supported for a short while by James Boss.
The lads set about defending the paltry 65 runs with an improved performance in the field; pick of the bowlers was Charlie Corbett taking the only wicket for 5 runs.
First night jitters or match rustiness, call it what you wish, the truth was that the lads minds were else where, they were too distracted and in all they lacked application and determination. Some might accept this for the first match of the season, but each player must now transfer those lessons and advice from the nets to out in the middle. Onwards ans upwards.
