Portsmouth & Southsea Cricket Club Lost by 30 runs

Match report A good game between two pretty evenly match sides although the margin of defeat tells the tale that Gosport bowled less 4 balls and certainly keep their fielding at a very high standard.
Winning the toss we bowled 1st with Harry setting things up immediately with an excellent wicket maiden. Thereafter we had a few tricky overs until Dan C came on to take a wiket in his first over. Will P was in on the wicket taking map too with a brace in his second over one thanks to Harry's good hands. The closing few overs saw two runouts from the Perrin/Kanavan connection and Fin (just on the field) bowled one in his one over. Really tight stuff from Peter and particularly George should also get a mention.
Against a bowling attack that included 5 district bowlers we had our work cut out. Dan C and Oscar started steadily with Dan clipping an early boundary. A brace of wickets and Dan's retirment though saw the scoring stall somewhat which also brought about disappointing run outs - we really do need to work on our calling, backing up and running bats in! For a while Russell and Ollie kept things ticking and we were still in with an outside chance but once both had departed it was a big ask for the remaining bats. Peter hit the shot of the day, a stunning cover drive on the up and George didn't look out of place against the older lads, finishing not out. Finally poor old Henry perished going for a big hit as ever trying his best for the team.
